The Samoset Chapter was organized on September 12, 1970, at the Southern Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park. Led by Organizing President Mrs. Edwin Snyder (Clemance), the chapter’s first project focused on supporting the museum and preserving local history. The name “Samoset” honors the Algonquin chief who is traditonally recognized as the first Native American to greet the Pilgrims upon their arrival in America, reflecting the chapter’s dedication to early American heritage.
